socialscan <username>

Check the availability of a username (or email) on platforms with socialscan, detecting existing accounts via HTTP responses.

Run it in the OSINT phase when you want to check usernames (or emails) with response analysis: socialscan queries platforms and determines account status (available, existing, error) by analyzing HTTP responses and content — more accurate than search engines due to response analysis. It's the community OSINT tool (by iojw): checking availability with detail. In reconnaissance, socialscan gives the status of the target's accounts — presence verified by platform responses.

Don't use it for unsupported services: socialscan covers platforms on its list — services outside are checked with specific tools. Response analysis depends on maintenance (platform changes break selectors): keep it updated. And beware: the scan generates traffic to platforms: space it out. Verify findings (account status by content, not just response). For broad username scanning, use sherlock; socialscan for response accuracy.
